20 minutes from Downtown Memphis, Millington remains a small community that offers all the attractions and amenities of a bigger city, including a winery, arts council, and farmers market, as well as a major sports complex that features baseball games and rodeos. With a population of 10,582, it’s easy to get to know your neighbors and feel instantly connected.

This small town has seen many iterations since the turn of the century, when settlers first arrived to take advantage of the rich soil. It’s gone from being a wealthy settler’s town to a military hub to the location of a major sports complex that served as training grounds for Olympic baseball during the 1980s. A few famous pop stars and singers grew up in and around Millington, including Justin Timberlake and members of the band Kings of Leon.

Millington takes special pride in its vibrant community and features all the amenities of a big city, including the Old Millington Winery and the Millington Arts Council. Playhouse 51 is Millington’s community theater that offers big productions of major plays.

Historic turn-of-the-century-style single-family homes abound in Millington and for a fraction of the price in Memphis’s adjoining neighborhoods.

For the sports fanatic, there’s the USA Baseball Stadium complex, a full-scale 5000-seat stadium that features all the amenities of a major league baseball stadium.

Meeman-Shelby Forest State Park offers a way to reconnect with nature and offers bird watching, hiking, boating, and fishing. Whether you decide to bring your family or come alone, the park offers a variety of outdoor experiences that promise adventure and fun or a little peace and quiet.
