Situated along the Wolf River Lagoon, the Pinch District is one of Memphis' oldest neighborhoods and home to the city's first commercial district, which dates back to the late 19th century. Today, the area is on the verge of a renaissance, with a transformative $1.1 billion redevelopment project underway.

The Pinch District, just north of Downtown, is a hub of diverse culture and unique architecture. The Cannon Center for the Performing Arts anchors the neighborhood's Main Street corridor, and local landmarks like the striking Memphis Pyramid.

Designed to meet world-class acoustic standards, the 2,072-seat Cannon Center opened in 2003; today, it hosts an exciting program of events, including symphonic concerts, touring theatrical productions, children's theater, and jazz shows.

Originally a concert and entertainment arena, the Memphis Pyramid has transformed remarkably with renewed purpose. Now home to the largest Bass Pro Shop, lodge-inspired hotel, and bowling alley; the roughly 32-story building is home to the country’s tallest free-standing elevator featuring floor to ceiling glass giving riders a remarkable view.

With ambitious plans for boutique hotels, retail shops, apartments, and office space, the ongoing redevelopment project will transform the Pinch District into a dynamic place for locals to eat, drink, work, play, and create.

A much-anticipated pedestrian bridge will link the Pyramid to the greater Pinch District connecting residents to the district's lively environment.
